What Happened
A 21-year-old man was flown to a hospital with life-threatening injuries after the van he was driving collided with a semi-truck on Lutz Road near Fairchild Road in Lockport Township, the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Office said.
The crash happened after 3:30 p.m. on Friday, September 4. According to deputies, the semi-truck was traveling northbound on Lutz Road and the van was traveling southbound when the two vehicles collided. Investigators have not said how the vehicles came together or which vehicle left its lane.
The van’s driver, a 21-year-old man from Jones, was airlifted from the scene with life-threatening injuries, deputies said. The semi-truck’s driver, a 49-year-old man from Grand Rapids, was not injured.
