What Happened
A 54-year-old Grand Haven man was seriously injured Wednesday morning when the motorcycle he was riding collided with an SUV that pulled into his path on 172nd Avenue in Grand Haven Township, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office, as reported by WWMT News Channel 3 and WHTC News.
The crash happened shortly after 10 a.m. about two miles southeast of downtown Grand Haven. The motorcyclist was traveling south on 172nd Avenue when an 83-year-old Grand Haven man driving a Toyota Highlander pulled out from Timberview Drive into the motorcycle’s path, deputies said, per WWMT.
The rider, who was wearing a helmet, suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a Muskegon-area hospital, according to WHTC, which cited Sergeant Jon Smoes of the sheriff’s office. The SUV’s driver and his 75-year-old passenger, both of Grand Haven, were not hurt.
